On 26 September 2025, our DEAGENCY team and moderator Kaarina Koski (University of Turku, Finland) participated at European’s Researcher Night with a round table titled “The Dead Among Us: A Round Table on Contemporary Forms of Coexistence with the Dead”
At the round table, researchers who are engaged in research on modern forms of coexistence with the deceased presented the results of their field research carried out in Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Hungary and Finland. The main focus of the conversation was relationships with the dead in the context of social changes in village communities, new spiritual movements and mass graves. The event was being prepared by DEAGENCY Principal Project Investigator Mirjam Mencej and associates of the DEAGENCY project (UL FF), in cooperation with Kaarina Koski from the University in Turku, Finland.
