The symposium addressed the relationship between the existence, discovery and investigation of mass graves and the formation of “difficult heritage” in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and beyond. Specialists from various disciplines, through an interdisciplinary comparison of experiences across different countries, sought to broaden understanding of mass graves in diverse historical periods and to shape approaches to the formation of difficult heritage, alongside a critical reflection on its role in contemporary society.

The cooperation with Department of Archaeology, UL; Centre for Southeast European Studies, University of Graz; and Institute of Anthropological and Spatial Studies, ZRC SAZU.
